RECITAL (2 shows) SATURDAY JUNE 13th, 1:00PM & 5:00PM
DRESSING ROOM RULES
-
Please pack snacks and drinks for your child. Please stay away from juice and colored pops, as well as cheesy snacks, as they stain the costumes.
-
The kids can also bring quiet activities to do while waiting for their turn to dance.

Bathroom breaks- for the younger dancers a parent always takes them. We try and do potty breaks before we start the show and every so often throughout the show.

RECITAL INSTRUCTIONS
-
You must arrive no later than 12:00 or 4:00 to drop off your dancer on Saturday, June 13th
-
Hair and make-up should be complete, unless you need assistance. Assistance needs to be set up now, so we can set someone up to help you.
-
The shows starts at 1:00 and also 5:00 and each show will be conducted in 2 parts.
-
At the end of the recital, please send 1 person to sign your dancer out. Please note, no-one should ever walk up on the stage via the stairs and dancers should NOT come down the steps through the curtains. Stage etiquette!
-
You need to bring: Costumes, hair accessories including hair sprays and gels and hair pins, make up, shoes, light snacks and quiet games. The tights included with the costumes are not worn until recital day so they last as long as possible. Please have hair and make-up complete prior to bringing your dancer, unless special assistance is needed. If special assistance is needed, please let us know now.
-
All other dancers must be in their dressing rooms at 12:00 and 4:00. We start lining up the dances at 12:30 and 4:30 so the show can start on time.
COSTUMES, JEWELRY, SHOES
-
Be sure to check your costume and write your child’s name somewhere on the costume.
-
Jewelry: none except for a pair of stud diamond/crystal earrings is allowed, unless through special approval of Mrs. Yvette. Seniors must remove additional earrings please.
-
Shoes:
Hip Hop/jazz – tan jazz shoes or hip hop shoes
Ballet students – pink ballet shoes
Tap students-black patent (shiny) tap shoes
CLM – Contemporary/Lyrical foot thong
Please note, no loud nail polish colors. You can use nude, clear or French tips only please.
STAGE MAKE UP
-
Heavy foundation, blush, red lipstick (blood red or cherry red) brown or gold or tan color eye shadow, eyeliner and mascara. Here are some suggested colors: Covergirl “Cheekers” blush (#140), Covergirl “brown smolder” eye shadow (#740), Any bright cherry or blood red lipstick. No pink lipsticks please..they wash the face out on stage. Senior students may wear false eyelashes. Stage make up is very heavy so that performers do not get ‘washed out’ while they are under the heavy stage lights. This is a standard part of performing. If you do not approve of your student wearing make up, please notify Mrs. Yvette so she is aware.
HAIR
-
Hair: Please ensure that there are no ‘wispy’ pieces of hair. Hair should be ‘glued’ to the head with hair spray and or gel and pins.
-
Ballet Buns MUST be secured with a hair net and hair pins. NO EXCEPTIONS. The hair must not fall out during performance and this is a typical, classic way to wear your hair as a classical ballet dancer. If you need help, please ask Mrs. Yvette. Mrs. Yvette will personally show you how to create a ballet bun before the week of the recital, if you’re not able to do it. Hair nets can be purchased from CVS and Walmart or Amazon. Bun pins and ‘u’ shaped pins, not bobby pins to secure the bun.
T-SHIRTS/FINALE
-
All dancers return to the stage at the very end for a final bow. All dancers/performers should wear the blue 'Come Fly With Me & The Sound of Music' t-shirt that will be handed out as soon as they are received, before recital week, and any length of black short (above the knee) and any dance shoe. (If a dancer does ballet and tap, please wear ballet shoes)
FLOWERS
For years, it has been etiquette for performers to receive flowers after their performances. We recommend Grand Lake Floral and Gifts. 10% of sales is directed back to the studio. You can also find flowers at Kroger and Walmart. There are a lot of dance recitals that occur this time of year, so we recommend ordering ahead of time @ a florist.
TICKET SALES
There is no limit to the amount of tickets you can purchase. The fee is $20. The on-line company charges $1 extra per ticket plus a 5% processing fee.
On behalf of the En Pointe Dance Studio staff and family, we want to thank you in advance for your cooperation and assistance in helping us make this year’s dance recital “Come Fly With Me & The Sound of Music” a success. We love teaching your dancers and look forward to a wonderful weekend.
